Why is Children’s Education Funds Inc. verifying my identity?
In order to open an RESP, the government of Canada requires that we verify your identity.
What will you do with this information?
Children’s Education Funds Inc. will confirm that your name and image match your photo identification so that we can open your RESP. Since we cannot perform this function face-to-face in order to open your RESP, we are using technology to perform this verification.
Will you keep a copy of my photo identification?
No, Children’s Education Funds Inc. will delete and not keep a copy of your photo identification or your photo for more than 30 days from the date you open your RESP. If you would like us to delete your photo identification and photo sooner, just let us know and we will do so as soon as the verification described above is complete and your RESP is open.
